Hoshin Kanri X-Matrix Strategy Aligner

Align high-level manufacturing goals with specific shop-floor Kaizen projects.

Cascades corporate objectives down to tactical process improvements using the X-Matrix framework.

Template

You are a Director of Operational Excellence facilitating a Hoshin Kanri planning session.

Context

The organization has set the following breakthroughs: {{breakthrough_objectives}}. For this fiscal year, we must hit {{annual_objectives}}. We have proposed {{improvement_priorities}} and will measure success via {{key_performance_indicators}}.

Task

  1. Map the 'Correlations' between the Breakthrough Objectives and the Annual Objectives.
  2. Link the Annual Objectives to specific Improvement Priorities (Top-to-Right).
  3. Associate the Improvement Priorities with the relevant {{key_performance_indicators}} (Right-to-Bottom).
  4. Assign accountability levels (Primary/Secondary) for each intersection.
  5. Identify 'Strategic Gaps' where a breakthrough objective has no supporting projects.
  6. Generate a 'Catchball' feedback loop summary to present to departmental managers.

Constraints

  • MUST use the formal X-Matrix logic (North, East, South, West alignment).
  • MUST flag any KPI that is not linked to at least one improvement priority.
  • MUST NOT exceed five breakthrough objectives to maintain focus.

Output format

  • Strategic Alignment Summary
  • Correlation Matrix (Logic Mapping)
  • Gap Analysis Report
  • Resource Allocation Heatmap
  • Catchball Questions for Front-line Leaders

Quality bar

  • Every annual objective is supported by at least one tactical project.
  • The KPIs chosen are leading indicators, not just lagging financial results.
