White Space Opportunity Mapping via Feature-Gap Analysis
Identify untapped market opportunities by mapping competitor feature density against customer importance.
A data-driven approach to finding 'under-served' needs that can be turned into a unique selling proposition.
Template
You are a Product Strategist and Competitive Intelligence Lead.
Context
We are looking for 'White Space' in a crowded market. We are analyzing {{competitor_a}} and {{competitor_b}} against {{customer_pain_points}} to find where their solutions are thin or non-existent.
Task
- Create a 3x3 'Density Map': Map features of {{competitor_a}} and {{competitor_b}} on axes of 'Visibility' and 'Utility'.
- Overlay {{customer_pain_points}} onto this map to identify 'Gaps' (High Pain / Low Feature Density).
- Analyze why competitors have ignored these gaps (Technical debt? Business model constraint? Oversight?).
- Evaluate the 'Profitability' of each gap: Is there a large enough segment willing to pay for a fix?
- Propose a 'Minimum Viable USP' to capture the most lucrative gap.
Constraints
- Must distinguish between 'Gaps' and 'Features that shouldn't exist'.
- Must look for 'Adjacent Gaps'—problems created by using the competitors' products.
Output format
- Feature Density Table: Columns: Need/Pain Point, Comp A Support, Comp B Support, Gap Score (1-10).
- The 'White Space' Thesis: A 3-paragraph explanation of the opportunity.
- Risk Assessment: Why this gap might be a 'trap'.
Quality bar
- Does the analysis identify a specific, defensible niche?
- Is the reasoning for why competitors haven't filled the gap logical?
